Review Policy & FAQ

Review Policy

For authors and publishers:

I am currently NOT accepting books for review. I read books on a first come, first serve basis unless there is a specific time frame (i.e. release date). Personally I like to read ARCs closer to release so that it is fresh on my mind and the review/post can coincide with the release date. That being said, I attempt to read review copies within thirty days of receiving them. If there is ever an instant where that would not be possible, I will tell you ahead of receiving the review copy so that it is your decision if you would like for me to review.

Genres I Accept:

  • Children’s Books (see Children’s Corner for more information)
  • Young Adult
  • New Adult
  • Women’s Contemporary
  • Science Fiction
  • Fantasy (urban, high)
  • Dystopia
  • Historical Fiction

Genres I Do NOT Accept:

  • Erotica
  • LGBT*
  • Graphic Novel (including Magna)
  • Crime, Mystery
  • Contemporary, Social Issues
  • Fanfiction
  • Horror

*Note: I accept books with LGBT characters, not the genre, meaning contemporary/romance books dealing with the social accepts of being LGBT. In general, I do not accept Social Issue/Contemporary novels because I do not enjoy them.

Formats I accept:

  • ebook – mobi or Kindle format, pdf
  • hardcopy (address available on request)

Please Note: As of this time, I am not accepting books for review. Currently I have too many books for one person to read. If you are an author or publisher I’ve previously reviewed for, please send your request to my email at momwithareadingproblem(at)gmail(dot)com and I will decide on a case by case basis to accept your request.

If you would like to send me a review copy, have a question, or would like to promote your upcoming book, please click here and fill out the form to the best of your ability. I will get back to you as quickly as I can 🙂

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I get information about books that I review?

Book Demographics and Book Synopsis are found on the book website at Amazon or given to me by the author unless otherwise noted.

Where does the author info come from?

I use the information given in the About the Author section at the end of most books. If that is not available (or really long) I use the information from Amazon. If I can’t find any information and the author has a website I will paraphrase from their site.

What can I say? The author wrote the book, it’s decent enough for me to blog a review, they deserve credit, and I like learning about the author’s.

What does I received a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review mean?

Well, it means exactly what it says. The author gave me their book for free in exchange for a completely honest review. And if you are an author reading this, I would love to review your books 🙂

Does that mean that all of them are good? Not necessarily. And I usually will post the review to Goodreads, B&N and Amazon. (other places if requested)
