Happy Sunday y’all! This week blew by as I knew it would. To be honest, it wasn’t the best of weeks for us. As most of you know, my husband and I are currently going through fertility treatments in the hopes of having more children. The doctor’s news was good, we can even start attempting the next cycle. However the cost is high and with the news we received from my husband’s work this week (see this Sunday Post for more info) it’s looking like we will not be having more children. My heart hurts to even think about it and it makes me so angry at the entire situation which is not how I want the holidays to be spent. I feel like our world just tipped on its axis and we are trying to reorder every thing we thought we knew. It hurts so if you are the praying type, we would appreciate those prayers in the coming weeks.

Reading wise it was a decent week. I read 3 books and listened to one. I’m close to my Goodreads goal this year, but I don’t think I’ll make it which will be the first time since joining Goodreads. It’s just been a slow reading year for me.

Yesterday we took little man to see the local production of the Nutcracker and he fell in love. I asked him if he wants to learn to dance and be the Nutcracker one day and he said yes….so it looks like I will be looking into our local dance studios 😉 After the Nutcracker, we went to the library and came home with 7 books (6 for him). It makes this bookworm mama’s heart happy that my little man enjoys reading so much. And after the bad week, it was a nice way to end it.

This Week’s Book Fix

What are you reading this week?

I have zero plans for this week so I’m planning to take advantage and start wrapping presents and shopping for those I haven’t bought for yet. Then Friday arrives and my husband and I are spending a weekend alone in Nashville. I’m so excited. We got tickets to see Garth Brooks on Saturday and I’m over the moon. I cannot wait to have a whole weekend for just us. We are staying in the middle of downtown, walking distance to the arena. Any Nashville readers? Where should we hang out this weekend?

  1. Sending you tons of hugs my friend, I am so sorry and have faith everything will work out for you. I will cross my fingers for as long as you need me too.

I have been paid the same amount since i worked were I do. This year he took all my vacation time away saying I didn’t have any time left to make up for time last year. I was so confused, he dropped it on us and pretty much we had no say which was when I found out we get paid salary but are hourly. I know that is confusing…Well he just dropped again with the we are going to a pay company and you get paid for the hours you work. So now if I miss an hour, I can’t make it up and wont get paid. He is doing this to benefit him. He took our insurance way, vacation time and now is cutting corners with our pay. I need to find another job and sadly think we will need to file for the big B next year. We can’t seem to catch a break. I am sorry your husband and you are doing through all of this. It’s not the best time to have to deal with it around the holidays. I am telling you my story even though it is a little different just so you know you are not alone.

I hope you and your son enjoy the new library books!

Have a great week, my friend! Happy reading! ox

    • Thank you so much for your honesty and sharing with me Michelle! I’m so sorry for the situation you and your family are in. It’s so disheartening when you work hard to get where you are and have to face this. The lawyer we met with this week said if the company is unwilling to work with us and we cannot get a loan for the full amount (I don’t see that happening as we have no assets) that the big B is our only option. He did encourage us though that there are many forms and one of them (the one he recommended for us if it comes to that) is easier to rebuild your credit. I hope that things work for you but one thing I’m learning from this experience is that there is always a path out, it may just not be the one we want.

I’ll be praying for you and your family for as long as needed. Have a great week (((hugs)))

  2. Lots of prayers! I only know a few people who have done IVF, one girl who I went to school with. My aunt did carry for someone else who IVF didn’t work for, and I remember all of the shots she had to do. Things went sour with the couple she was carrying for. They thought they were going to get off scott-free with her having their baby and slough all the hospital bills for all the monthly and then biweekly checkups and delivery off on my aunt. She had to go back to the judge to have the couple pay all the hospital bills, which was already outlined and court-ordered before the process even began. I hope that after this hump you can resume your family-building journey.

    • Thank you Charlie! That is terrible what your aunt went through. I would be eternally grateful to anyone that did that for us. Paying the bills would fill like the least I could do. I can’t believe the couple would do that to her! Our doctor has suggested IUI which is quite a bit cheaper than IVF but still expensive. I’m hoping we can get this sorted with my husband’s work soon because unfortunately I’m starting to feel my age in the baby department and worried if we wait too much longer we will miss our chance to expand. Though adoption is always in the back of our mind too….so we will see where God leads us there. Have a great week!

    • Thank you Jenea! It made me happy too. The Nutcracker was always my favorite as a kid too. I’ve been on cloud nine since we got our tickets 😉 Have a great week!

    • Thank you so much Kimberly! It is scary. We talked with a lawyer this week in hopes that they could help us get his work to work with us, but he told us our options were the big B and it was just devastating to hear that! I appreciate you adding us to your prayer list. It means so much to me!

  3. So sorry to hear of your worries – it’s a bad time to have such concerns:(. Those drops of pleasure, like your lovely son falling in love with The Nutcracker ballet, are to be treasured:)). Take care and thinking of you.x
