Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m a mom of three boys, age 18, 11, and 9, one male dog, and two male cats. Yes, I’m outnumbered!

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I’m not sure, I’m always working. 😀 Well, that’s what my friends and family say. I’m a total workaholic. If I do have any time off, though, I enjoy hanging with my family, hiking, traveling, and jumping off fast trains. Okay, maybe out of airplanes with parachutes, but the fast trains make me sound more interesting.

What inspired you to become a writer?

It was a loooooong road to finally settling on being an author. I’ve had more jobs than most. I’ve been everything from a cashier, to Blue Fairy from Pinocchio, to a recreational therapist, to a production database administrator. The only jobs that have ever felt like a perfect fit for me was being a mom and an author.

It was after my second child that I started writing. My husband and I decided it was a good idea for me to stay home after the second child arrived, but being the workaholic that I am, well, let’s just say it didn’t work too well for me…or my husband. 😀 I began writing to have an outlet, but since I have a language disorder, I thought nothing would ever come of it, but thanks to my awesome husband, I submitted and was published.

Is there an author or book that influenced you in any way?

I’ve always been a huge Edgar Allen Poe fan. Also, Francine Rivers, Stephen King, and many classics made me love reading and inspired me to create my own worlds.

Where do your ideas come from?

I might not be able to write properly at times due to my language issues, but my imagination has NEVER been a problem. My family jokes that I’m always in ‘Ciaraland.’

Is there anything in your books based on real-life experience or is it purely imagination?

It’s almost ALWAYS pure imagination, but, there was one time that I attempted to write a real life experience. To my surprise, I received reviews stating that a scene that really happened in my life was unbelievable and would never happen. Yes, I laughed and laughed and laughed about that one, then decided I should stick with fiction.

What was your favorite part to write?

In one of my recent releases, Thanksgiving in Sweetwater County, I loved writing any scenes with the little girl that struggled with autism. This is a cause near and dear to my heart, so it was such a pleasure to write her character.

Is there a character or theme you’d like to revisit?

Yes, I’d like to show more children with unique learning needs in a positive way, not just their struggles, but the celebration of their accomplishments.

What are you working on now?

I’m currently editing The Secrets of Dargon, a high fantasy paranormal romance, and I’m also writing In All My Wishes, which is a sweet contemporary small town romance like A Christmas Spark.

Now that you are published, what’s been some of the hardest criticism you’ve dealt with? Best compliment?

From a mother of a child with special needs. She thanked me for writing a character that highlighted the strengths of children instead of their challenges. I cried when I received this private message and review.

Any advice you’d like to share with aspiring writers?

Write what you love, be willing to work harder than any other job you’ve ever had, and enjoy every minute of the journey.

Anything you’d like to say to your fans?

I’d like to just say thank you for all of your kind words, amazing reviews, shout outs, and encouragement. I love receiving private messages and emails about how a story touched your heart.

Now for a few fun questions…

Favorite color?

Hot pink

Favorite movie?

Favorite TV show?

Favorite place to write?

Back screened porch.

If you had to choose just one book, what would it be and why?

Collection of Edgar Allen Poe short stories, because his words are like music, and his vision like no other I’ve read.

Last question and possibility the most important…what brand of cereal best describes you and why?

Special K Fruit and Yogurt because I’m sweet, enjoy healthy living and eating, and I’ve always been a little fruity. 😉

Sara Foster blames herself for her failed marriage. On Christmas Eve, she hides away in the family cabin, the same place her father abandoned her twenty years ago. Dalton Scot is unable to face the family holiday after his divorce and discovering he can never have children of his own, so he chooses Christmas Eve to fix his buddy’s cabin. Both search for a secluded spot to mourn their Christmas pasts, but instead are snowed in at the cabin for the holiday where they discover the power of the Christmas spark.

A Christmas Spark by Ciara Knight is a sweet contemporary romance about moving on. Sara Foster is newly divorced and decides to hide from her sister’s attempts at a blind date by spending the weekend at her family’s cabin. Dalton suffering his own heartbreak offers to fix his friend’s cabin over the holidays. Unfortunately said cabin is the same cabin Sara is off to and with a winter storm blowing in, they are both trapped together.

I REALLY enjoyed this one! Sara and Dalton are two characters I instantly fell in love with. Sara is independent, puts her son first, but she is also broken. Raised by an aunt after her parents both died and now facing her failed marriage, she wonders why no one stays with her. It’s really heart-breaking! Dalton is everything a girl could want in a man. He’s sweet, caring, has a soft-spot for animals and kids, but he is nursing his own wounded ego. He’s newly divorced and finds out he can never have children of his own. He feels like half a man, that is until he meets Sara.

A twist of fate sees them both stranded at Sara’s family cabin during a winter storm. As this novella is just barely over 100 pages I won’t go into too much detail as I don’t want to spoil the story 😉 The plot centers on Sara and Dalton, their brokenness, and how one can fix the other. It’s a super sweet story, perfect for those looking for a quick CLEAN read. If you enjoy contemporary romance, I highly recommend this one!
