Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. They’d love to share their lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
I can’t believe this year is already half over! How is that even possible?! I know I sound like an old lady saying it but time needs to SLOW DOWN just a little 😉
Today’s topic is “Top Ten Books I’ve Read So Far In 2015.” Ummm…you know how I’ve mentioned before I’m a bit of a bookaholic….well, yeah. I’ve read :::cough::: 80 :::cough::: books so far this year.
I’ve read a ton of amazing books so far this year!!! I finally got a library card at the end of 2014 so I’ve been reading a bunch of amazing books in addition to some great ARCs. So to say this topic is hard is an understatement! But I will try to keep it to just ten books 😉 Also please note that not all of these books were released in 2015, but that I READ them in 2015. Covers link to Goodreads, and as always these are in no particular order.
My Top Ten Books of 2015 So Far
Cinder by Marissa Meyer –
I’m in love with this series. Though I will admit that I didn’t care much for Cress.
I started reading them in January of this year and I couldn’t stop. I cannot wait for Winter
! I’m sure it will be on my Top Ten list at the end of the year 😉
Broken Skies by Theresa Kay –
This was a beautiful, unexpected surprise from Netgalley 😀 I read this book in almost one sitting and I’m still pining for it’s sequel which is due out later this year. I can’t wait! If you like science fiction dystopians with a little alien romance, go get it now!!!
Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch –
This is perhaps my most favorite book of all time, at least if you ask me now 😉 It is amazing!!!! I love the world-building with the different kingdoms and the little twist that wasn’t so much a surprise as it was a shock towards the end. Plus that cover 😀
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon –
So I joined a challenge at the beginning of the year to read all the Outlander series. Well, I’ve failed at that. Not because I didn’t enjoy Outlander. No on the contrary I loved it!!! I loved it so much I’m afraid to keep reading the series. I’m afraid it won’t live up to my high expectations.
Gates of Thread and Stone by Lori M. Lee –
This was another pleasant surprise from Netgalley and I adored it! I devoured this book in one sitting, then immediately found book two through Amazon and read it as well. This dystopian, fantasy is full of suspense, twists and just a tiny dose of romance. Plus it has a kicka– heroine!
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas –
Yes people, I finally caved to the peer pressure and all I have to say is: WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG?!?!?! This series is amazing. I started it in March and I’ve already read them all, plus the shorts. I cannot wait for Queen of Shadows, only two months peeps 😀
A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Grey –
This is one of those cover love books that I wanted to read just because of the cover. And I know there’s a lot of mixed reviews out there, but I’m here to tell you I loved it!!! A dimensional traveling heroine, with a very cute research assistant on a revenge mission. Yes please!!! Plus there’s this long stint in Russia that’s like taking a step back in time to when the Czar ruled. It’s awesome!
The Clouded Sky by Megan Crewe –
Okay I’ll be the first to tell you that I didn’t care for book one of this series, but I was interested enough to keep reading. And I’m so glad I did!!! The Clouded Sky gets more into the dystopian universe that Sky has found herself involved in. She gets more answers about the time bubble around her planet, and the explosive ending had me throwing my Kindle (no joke!) across the room in frustration. My hubby laughed at me 😉
Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge –
Oh my! I cannot say enough good things about this book. It’s a dark, twisted very loose retelling of Red Riding Hood and while it ends nicely it will leave you with the heebie-jeebies! It had a high creep factor and honestly the twists and turns and surprises in the plot and characters was nothing I could predict. Awesome read!
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard –
Hands down one of my all-time favorite books. I loved the world building, with the dystopian, old-world, almost medieval feel and I loved Mare! She is just awesome. Yes she makes some bad choices and yes the plot was slightly predictable in a way that left me screaming at Mare through my Kindle to run the other direction but that’s what made this book so enjoyable 😀
Honorable Mentions: Burnt Devotion by Rebecca Ethington, The Forsaken by Laura Thalassa, Collide by Ashley C. Harris, and Dear Mr. Knightley by Katherine Reay
