New Year, New Me Update #1

So it’s February.

Time to fess up and let you all know how my New Year, New Me goals are going or in some cases not going.

How about good news first? 😉 My two biggest goals for myself this year is to lose weight and get healthy. I’m happy/proud/ecstatic to say that I’m down 17 pounds, two belt holes, and one pants size since the New Year!!!! The belt holes really get me. I’ve had this belt for around 7 years and have always used the same hole 😀

I’m a little over half way to my first goal of 30lbs. Once I hit it (hopefully sometime later this month) I’ll post my first before/after pics. Something I’m really nervous and not at all wanting to do. But it should keep me honest.

My other personal goals to get healthy dealt with running a 5K and diet. Well, I’m sorry to say that I’ve only ran once this month 😳 and trying a new food daily….yeah I haven’t tried anything new. I’m such a chicken when it comes to food.

So how have I been losing weight? Easy…I’ve cut back drastically on my chocolate (even my hubby has complained about there being no sweets in the house) and soda intake. I’ve increased water and protein in my meals. Also I cheated a bit by jump starting my metabolism with a Slim Fast shake for breakfast the first two weeks of the year. So ten of those 17lbs I owe to that, the other 7 is all me 😉

Other goals I’ve stuck to include reading through the Bible in a year. I’m following the Eat This Book plan, reading a few chapters a day and ending each day with a psalm. It’s awesome, empowering and a wonderful reminder of all my God can do.

Bookish goals, I’m powering through the COYER challenge, with 13 of 20 books completed. Yes I did read 13 books in January. I think I consumed every book placed in front of me and then some 😉 However I’m not doing so good at meeting my own challenge of half my books being freebies. In fact I’ve only read about 3 of those so far this year. The Outlander Challenge started yesterday. Click here to keep updated on my progress.

I’m also keeping up with my blogging resolutions. I haven’t posted daily, but I have posted 6-7x a week and sometimes twice in one day (like today 😀 ) I also haven’t posted ahead much. I think at most I’m staying around 2-3 days and then sometimes not at all. And thanks to Feature & Follow Friday I’ve gained some new followers and found some awesome new-to-me blogs 😀

My goal for February are to do the following:

  • Start running!!!!
  • Sign up for my first 5K
  • Try at least 5 new foods
  • Read more….if that’s even possible 😉
  • Blog more 😀 The One Year anniversary is coming soon!!!
