Review: And I Darken by Kiersten White

Review: And I Darken by Kiersten White

It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for historical fiction so I’m ashamed to admit that this book has set on my TBR shelf for more than a year. And I Darken by is the first in an alternate history series that imagines Vlad the Impaler as a woman. Honestly just typing that makes me giddy. I was so excited to start this book. It’s an interesting concept to take one of history’s most feared men and make him a woman. I was more than a little curious to see how the author would pull it off while also staying true… Read more »

Review: Trigger by Scarlett Dawn

Review: Trigger by Scarlett Dawn

I’m not gonna lie. I had high hopes for this book. Trigger by is the first in a new dystopian series about shifters. I adore dystopians and the idea of making a dystopian world where shifters are the rulers was intriguing to say the least. The fact that I have so far loved everything I’ve read by the author also raised my stakes in this book. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed and had a hard time finishing the book as a result. The story follows Poppy, the almost 25 year old daughter of the resistance leader. At the beginning of the book, she… Read more »

Review: A Strange Hymn by Laura Thalassa

Review: A Strange Hymn by Laura Thalassa

Des is back! This is not a drill. DES IS BACK! A Strange Hymn by is the second book in series and I seriously couldn’t have been more excited to dive back into the Otherworld. For those of you that have not read the first book in the series (Rhapsodic), there may be minor spoilers to that book in this review. Read at your own risk! Rhapsodic left me dying for more. I wanted to know how Callie would come back from Karnon’s torture and Des’s darkness. I wanted to know more about the secrets the Bargainer keeps and oh God did I… Read more »

Initial Reaction: This is it!!! This book contains the answers I’ve been waiting on 😀 Through Glass: The Rose by was originally published as three separate novellas (Episodes 7-9 for those that have previously read the series) and I have to admit these are my favorites of the series so far! So many of my questions are answered in this book, granted it raises just as many questions as it answers. Warning this is an intense read from start to finish!!! Lex and Travis are finally on the move after their brief stay at the creepy kids’ house. But they don’t leave unscathed…. Read more »

Review: Saven Deliverance by Siobhan Davis

Review: Saven Deliverance by Siobhan Davis

Saven Deliverance by is the stunning conclusion to the series which follows Sadie as she learns about the existence of aliens, their plans for Earth and how she fits into it all. I can honestly say that when I received this book I devoured it. I set everything else aside and started it because that cliffhanger from Saven Defiance was killing me. I had to know what was going to happen to everyone. I want to note that if you have NOT read the previous books in this series there may be spoilers for those books ahead. Read at your own risk.  Sadie is with Logan… Read more »

#2017HW City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

#2017HW City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

January 31, 2017 Reviews 0

City of Fallen Angels by is the 4th book in and picks up 6 weeks after the ending of City of Glass. Personally I had a hard time with this one. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed it and it is pivotal for the series IMO, but the characters are in such a dark place. Jace is struggling with the aftermath of Clary’s choice to save him, Simon is realizing what it means when you are immortal AND have the mark of Cain, and Clary is dealing with her anger towards her mom, her nonexistent feelings for her brother and father… Read more »

Audio Review: The Gender Game by Bella Forrest

Audio Review: The Gender Game by Bella Forrest

Okay I have a confession. When a book is compared to another book, I usually roll my eyes. 9 out of 10 times the comparison does not live up to the book it is compared to. When I originally received a copy of The Gender Game for review, I was a bit skeptical of its comparison to one of my favorite dystopians The Hunger Games BUT having now read it the description fits. The Gender Game by is an exciting dystopian about two countries with varying degrees of oppression. Revenge, subterfuge, and secrets set the tone for the series and personally I wound up buying the… Read more »

January 28, 2017 Reviews 2

Happy Saturday y’all! I feel like I disappeared on you the last couple of days. I’ve been busy picking out things for the new house and haven’t had much chance to read or blog or well do anything. I did manage to read finish two books this week though and one of them I wanted to share with you today. Frostblood by hooked its teeth into me and wouldn’t let go until it was finished. While I had an ARC of the book, I also purchased an audio copy so I could read on the go. If you enjoy audio books, I… Read more »

Review: Through Glass: The Blue by Rebecca Ethington

Review: Through Glass: The Blue by Rebecca Ethington

January 20, 2017 Reviews 0

I LOVE this series! Through Glass: The Blue by picks up right where it left off in volume 1. Having escaped her impending death and leaving an injured Bridget behind, Lex and Travis are now on their own in the darkness with nothing but the supplies on their backs and a destination that may not accept Lex. While the first book in this series is a bit slow moving, this one is the exact opposite. Packed full of action, I couldn’t set it down until I finished it. The dynamic between Lex and Travis is interesting. For Lex she is Travis’s older… Read more »

Review: Seven Black Diamonds by Melissa Marr

Review: Seven Black Diamonds by Melissa Marr

Seven Black Diamonds by has been on my TBR shelf for a really long time, like embarrassingly long. When I receive a book to review, I write it down on a spreadsheet. It helps me to keep track of what books I have and when they are being released. Somehow when I received this book in 2015, it didn’t get written down. It wasn’t until I came across it on my Kindle that I realized I had it and hadn’t read it *hangs head in shame* So the first thing I did when I found it….READ IT! has been a name… Read more »
