Trick by is the fourth novel in the series, and as we have hit the halfway mark of on , it has the most reveals and surprises for fans of the series. Faith Peyton is a brand new character to and I love her! She’s a straightforward, what you see is what you get kind of girl. And it’s a breath of fresh air to have a character like that. An orphan with little memory of her childhood or her own origins, Faith works as a fisherman, but as her 25th birthday approaches she is forced to seek marriage or join… Read more »

Review: Chosen One by Scarlett Dawn

Review: Chosen One by Scarlett Dawn

Chosen One by is the 6th installment in her massive series and the third for her heroine Caro. This book was lukewarm for me. There were parts I loved, parts I disliked, and parts that were just “meh.” I wanted to love this book because I really like Caro, but there were some issues that I just couldn’t overcome. The Likes: Caro! I really enjoy this character. She is one of those that just faces the world and what it brings her head on and doesn’t care what others might think about her. She’s feisty, courageous, and loyal. Seriously I root… Read more »

Review: Torment by Scarlett Dawn

Review: Torment by Scarlett Dawn

Torment by is the third novel in the and my favorite couple featured so far. Megan Marshall is first introduced in Poppy’s story. She’s on the run from her father and his criminal activity. She spent her life under his thumb and would rather die than go back to him. After being dragged into something she doesn’t understand (you know the zombie things the Master is controlling), she hopes to never see Poppy and her friends again…and then they show up at the dive bar she works in. Megan is probably my favorite character in the series. She’s blunt and to the… Read more »

This book has ALL THE FEELS!!! Transcend by built me up and then gutted me. Following Trigger, the second book in the series takes on a new couple while continuing the plot thread of the previous book. While I made no secret of my lack of interest in Trigger, I found myself engrossed in Transcend and fell in love with the characters and world Scarlett has created. Mina is perhaps my favorite character in the series so far. She is a scholar, still young enough to not face the decision of marriage or army, and she’s had a formal upbringing which the author conveys with her… Read more »

Review: Trigger by Scarlett Dawn

I’m not gonna lie. I had high hopes for this book. Trigger by is the first in a new dystopian series about shifters. I adore dystopians and the idea of making a dystopian world where shifters are the rulers was intriguing to say the least. The fact that I have so far loved everything I’ve read by the author also raised my stakes in this book. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed and had a hard time finishing the book as a result. The story follows Poppy, the almost 25 year old daughter of the resistance leader. At the beginning of the book, she… Read more »

Review: Moon Mark by Scarlett Dawn

Moon Mark by is a standalone in the series and possibly my favorite of the two novellas. Madeline Faire is training as a scientist when the tidal wave hits Joyal, wiping out a good portion of their population. She is then pulled from Joyal in a lottery and given to the Kireg who are in the middle of a civil war. Out of her element, Madeline must find a way to keep herself and the other humans alive. Madeline is a great character! She is smart and her intellect and natural curiosity get her into all kinds of trouble with the… Read more »

Initial Reaction AND THEN AND FINALLY It’s no secret that I didn’t care for Chosen Thief, the first book in the second saga. Caro wasn’t my favorite character. She was immature, indecisive and just plain got on my nerves! BUT that all changed in Chosen Fool. In this book Caro finally faces one of her greatest fears….feelings and the repercussions of those feelings. She goes on an exciting, albeit embarrassing adventure, and then THAT ending!!!!! , do you know what you are doing to me?! Caro Rocks! Caro Jules, the elemental prodigy, is officially my new favorite heroine. She’s snarky at all the right… Read more »
