The Sun Dwellers by David Estes

August 15, 2014 Reviews 0

The Sun Dwellers by David Estes is book three of the Dwellers saga and picks up right where book two left off. Tristan, Adele, Roc, Tawni, Trevor, and Ram are on their way to the capital on a mission from General Rose. Their mission: to kill the president, Tristan’s father and hopefully stop the war before it’s begun. I love this series! This installment is nonstop action with a little romance thrown in. The author reveals many answers to questions I had asked throughout the series like: what is the mysterious connection between Tristan and Adele? What is Tristan hiding? Overall… Read more »

Pig and Small by Alex Latimer

Pig and Small by Alex Latimer

August 13, 2014 Children's Corner, Reviews 0

Pig and Small by Alex Latimer is a fun, illustrated tale about an unlikely friendship between a pig and small bug (from the pictures I believe it’s an ant, though it never says). The story begins with Pig thinking something is terribly wrong with him as his nose has started to squeak. On close inspection though he finds that it’s not his nose squeaking rather it is something on his nose making the noise. The small bug and Pig begin a rather unusual friendship, each seeking activities they like to do and trying to do them together. Unfortunately as they soon… Read more »

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today is #TopTenTuesday over at the Broke and the Bookish and today’s topic “Top Ten Books I’m Not Sure I Want To Read (books you may have bought but aren’t sure if you are into it anymore, books you wanted to read but heard mixed things about, hyped books you aren’t sure about — basically any book that has you going, “TO READ OR NOT TO READ?”)” So I have a bit of a confession to make. Spearwood Academy Volume Two: Episodes 6-10 by A.S. Oren

Spearwood Academy Volume Two: Episodes 6-10 by A.S. Oren

August 9, 2014 Reviews 0

Spearwood Academy by A.S. Oren is a serial series about Avalon Clementine, a girl who every night changes into a dragon. Pretty cool, right? Wrong!!! It’s painful for her and she’s endured it her whole life. Episode 6 picks up right where episode 5 left off. They’ve all survived their Survival Challenge and Avalon in her dragon form has pinned the dragon that was attacking her down. Only she knows this dragon, and (no spoilers) but it’s pretty awesome who the author brings in. This omnibus contains episodes 6-10 and it keeps you reading and guessing right to the very end!… Read more »

Futureless by K.J. Draeghan

Futureless by K.J. Draeghan

August 8, 2014 Reviews 2

Futureless by K.J. Draeghan is an epic fantasy dystopian set on the world of Ilreya and follows a band of unlikely heroes as they attempt to stop a world war before it begins. The story really puts me in the mind of Lord of the Rings and Narnia as the author describes the characters and detail of the world they live in. At roughly 175k words, this epic tale held my attention from the very first word! The Characters So this book has a multitude of characters, but really only six main ones or is it seven? Maybe eight? Anyways you get the picture 🙂… Divider

The Legacy by Melissa Delport #TheLegacyBlogTour

August 7, 2014 Features, Reviews 6

The Legacy by Melissa Delport is the first book in an exciting, new dystopian trilogy. The book begins with the haunting lines… “World War Three began on the third day of September, the year 2016. The war lasted twelve days. Twelve days was all it took for mankind to destroy a civilization that had taken thousands of years to evolve and to almost eradicate our own species. No victor emerged from the ashes and billions lost their lives…” Who doesn’t want to read this book after that?! Needless to say I was hooked from the first words to the very last…. Divider

Top Ten Books I’d Recommend to People Who Haven’t Tried Dystopians

August 5, 2014 Features 6

Today’s  topic for Top Ten Tuesday: What books/authors would you recommend to people who haven’t tried (((pick a genre))). So of course my pick is dystopian!! I’m a sucker for a good post-apocalyptic book, whether is written for adults or young adults I love them. There’s just something about reading a book about a bunch of survivors. It shows the best and worst of people. These are in no particular order because I love them equally. 1. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins: I feel that even putting this book on the list is a no brainer, but for those that have… Read more »
