Tim Cratchit’s Christmas Carol by Jim Piecuch

Tim Cratchit’s Christmas Carol by Jim Piecuch

December 24, 2014 Reviews 0

It takes a brave author to write a sequel to a beloved classic that everyone knows, either because they have read the book or seen one of many film adaptations. It takes a great author to pull it off. Jim Piecuch is both brave and great! In Tim Cratchit’s Christmas Carol, Piecuch takes the character Tiny Tim and gives us a glimpse into his adult life. Tim Cratchit is now thirty-ish, an accomplished physician and surgeon, working for the upper class in London, but also helping those who cannot afford care, much like himself when old Ebenezer Scrooge became a part… Divider

My Own Mr. Darcy by Karey White

My Own Mr. Darcy by Karey White

December 23, 2014 Reviews 0

Karey White is after my heart! This book is adorable, funny, and a tribute to all Pride & Prejudice fans (specifically the movie with the extremely handsome Matthew MacFayden in it) My Own Mr. Darcy begins with a trip to the theater. Lizzie and her best friend Janessa are dragged to the theater by Lizzie’s mother to see the 2005 movie Pride & Prejudice. Skeptical and not wanting to see the movie, Lizzie reluctantly agrees to go as she has the book as an English assignment. Then magic happens in the form of Matthew MacFayden. I was enchanted. I ached for it to go on… Divider

Cinder & Ella by Kelly Oram

Cinder & Ella by Kelly Oram

December 19, 2014 Reviews 0

So I’ve been on this kick recently reading books that are very similar to Hallmark movies…Cinder & Ella fits that description! It’s sweet, overly dramatic, and utterly predictable. It also leaves you with this ooey-gooey feeling like your insides have turned to mush. I kinda loved it! On Ella Rodriguez’s 18th birthday her life changes dramatically. Her mother is killed in a car accident that leaves Ella recovering from her own injuries in a hospital for 8 months. She misses the end of her senior year of school, loses touch with all of her friends, and she is forced to live… Divider

Blog Tour – Hope Rising by Stacy Henrie

Blog Tour – Hope Rising by Stacy Henrie

December 18, 2014 Features, Reviews 1

Today I am so excited to participate in the blog tour for the release of Hope Rising, the second book in Stacy Henrie’s series Of Love and War that centers around characters in the midst of World War I. I love historical fiction! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to say it enough. This series puts real life faces with the soldiers, nurses, and families left at home during the Great War. It was a different time and the author does a wonderful job of immersing the reader into not only the War but the cultural and social differences of the… Divider

Ticker had so much promise. Just look at that gorgeous cover and the synopsis?! Hello, it screamed at me “PICK ME! READ ME! YOU’LL LOVE ME!” Well, books don’t actually talk, except in my head so I guess technically it didn’t lie to me…. But…but I really just didn’t like this one as much as I thought I would. I went in with my expectations too high. Does that mean I hated it? No, but it could have been so much better. First, the MC was a let down. I really didn’t like our main character Penny Farthing, like at all!… Divider
