New Year, New Me Update #1

New Year, New Me Update #1

February 2, 2015 Features 0

So it’s February. Time to fess up and let you all know how my New Year, New Me goals are going or in some cases not going. How about good news first? 😉 My two biggest goals for myself this year is to lose weight and get healthy. I’m happy/proud/ecstatic to say that I’m down 17 pounds, two belt holes, and one pants size since the New Year!!!! The belt holes really get me. I’ve had this belt for around 7 years and have always used the same hole 😀 I’m a little over half way to my first goal… Read more »

Outlander 2015 Reading Challenge Accepted

Outlander 2015 Reading Challenge Accepted

January 31, 2015 Challenges 4

I have been dying to read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon for a while now. The length of the books and the number of them though have held me back. So I was really excited to see that Kay @ It’s a Book Life had created a challenge to read through the series this year. And yes, I will be joining her. The challenge starts tomorrow, 2/1 and ends 9/30. My Goals I plan to read all 8 books in the series, that’s at least one a month and the bonus books, Lord John Grey series, if I have time, and… Read more »

Mini-Review: Dear Mr. Knightley by Katherine Reay

Mini-Review: Dear Mr. Knightley by Katherine Reay

January 31, 2015 Reviews 5

Oh wow! It’s not often that a book makes me sigh aloud at its ending, but this one did! Dear Mr. Knightley is a story about finding hope in our darkest time, overcoming our own weaknesses and stepping out of your comfort zone. Samantha Moore is a twenty-three year old foster kid turned adult who accepts a grant to go back to college to get her master’s degree in journalism. There’s just one catch. The foundation CEO who gives her the grant asks that she write him regularly with updates about her progress, not just in college but in life as well…. Divider

Mini-Review: Splintered by A.G. Howard

Mini-Review: Splintered by A.G. Howard

January 30, 2015 Reviews 5

My Initial Reaction: I think this gif covers everything I felt reading Splintered by A.G. Howard. I’m not even really sure how to begin! The concept of the story, a re-telling of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, intrigued me, yet I put off reading the book until just this week. I’m sorry to say that I’m glad I did. While there were aspects that I loved about the book. there were others that I just couldn’t get past. Let me explain. Alyssa is a young woman, haunted by the fact that she thinks she is going crazy. She hears bugs and flowers… Divider

January 30, 2015 Features 2

What an amazing start to the New Year!!! I can’t believe that January is already over. I had some amazing reads this month. In fact I should really rename it to Catch-Up month as almost all of my reads were books I’ve been wanting to read and put off for one reason or another. Life wise, I’ve stuck to my guns with my New Year, New Me goals, at least for the most part 😉 More on that Monday. Other than reading and just generally getting back to normal life after the holidays, my month was rather boring. I… Read more »

It’s a New Day!

It’s a New Day!

January 29, 2015 Features 4

Have you ever had one of “those” days? Well, I have and I had one yesterday. Everything that could go wrong did. Very little went the way I wanted it to. It started with a sweet husband who wanted to let me sleep in a bit. Unfortunately that’s only sweet when I don’t need to be somewhere. So at 8am when he woke me up, I had less than 30 minutes to get ready and be out the door for Bible Study Fellowship. BSF is a wonderful bible study that a new friend from church invited me to late last… Read more »
