Happy Thursday y’all and welcome to the first Children’s Corner of 2018 😀 January was so busy with school getting back in session that little man and I missed getting a post up. It was a wet, miserable month. Little man had the flu at the end and is just now starting to get back to himself. We spent a lot of time cuddled on the couch watching movies and reading. At school, he is getting ready to start his second chapter book and they are learning their -3 facts in math. This week was supposed to be science week… Read more »

Happy Thursday y’all! I can’t believe that October has already come and gone. School is starting to gear up for the holidays. We are currently working on a Thanksgiving project (building a Pilgrim house out of Legos) while listening to the music for his Christmas Musical. Little man is so excited for the holidays as am I. I love this time of year! Currently Reading Up Next I really enjoy the TIME for Kids’ books. They are informative and fun, filled with illustrations, real-life pictures and quirky facts. The Big Book of Why and Big Book of How are no exception. My son who… Read more »

Happy Monday y’all! School is back in swing and we are finally getting a routine down. Little man got his progress report last week and I’m happy to report that he is currently getting all A’s 😀 It amazes me just how much he’s retained from Kindergarten and how much in just 6 weeks he’s already learned. He’s reading really well on his own now and I’m constantly trying to find him new books to read. I think it’s time we found our local library 😉 Currently Reading Up Next There’s Nothing to Do! by is an engaging book about a… Read more »

School started back last week for little man. While I miss having him home, he is enjoying school and I’m enjoying my little bit of free time too 😉 We finished the summer by reading the rest of his online summer reading books AND a couple of Dr. Seuss books. Those he read by himself which was both a sad and proud moment for me. Sad because now he doesn’t want me to read to him and proud because he can do it on his own with a little help. He’s growing up way too fast! Currently Reading Up Next… Read more »

Children’s Corner: Beating Summer Boredom

Children’s Corner: Beating Summer Boredom

July 11, 2017 Children's Corner, Features 1

Our summer break is halfway over and it makes me so sad. Little man will be returning to school in 5 weeks and I’m just not ready to have a first grader ? He’s excited though so I’m happy about that. My little man typically doesn’t like change but if he’s ready than I guess I have to be too. Currently Reading Up Next Beating Summertime Boredom Now that we are halfway through summer, boredom is starting to set in. I feel lucky that it’s taken half the summer as I’ve seen several friends posting that their kids were bored well… Read more »

I can’t believe it has been half a year since I did a Children’s Corner update! How is that possible?! Life has seriously gotten busy and I’m trying to figure out how blogging fits in now. Spring was fun. Little man played baseball for the first time, he was catcher most games and he loved that. In May he graduated Kindergarten ? I swear I’m a pile of mush! This year just went way to fast. Currently Reading Up Next Summertime Summer is finally here and little man is enjoying his time off from school. We have had multiple pj days… Read more »

Happy New Year fellow moms and teachers! Can you believe that it is now 2017?! Me either 😀 We finished off 2016 with a bang. Little man enjoyed his gifts from Santa, especially his books which made this bookworm happy. He went back to school last week and I’ve been missing him. I enjoyed having him home for a few weeks and now the house feels too quiet. We did crafts, we played games, and we built with Lego castles…specifically a haunted mansion and Ninjago city. Currently Reading Up Next Cold Season We are entering the time of cold season… Read more »

This year is flying by! I can’t believe that next week is Thanksgiving and there are only 5 more weeks to Christmas. I need to get on my Christmas shopping ASAP! Little man is still loving school. He’s started reading some on his own which makes this mama’s bookworm glow and he’s starting to count money. It amazes me how much little ones learn in such a short time. We also started speech therapy. It’s something I’ve questioned for a while now. Little man didn’t start talking til late (like just before he was 4) and he is hard to… Read more »

Children’s Corner | Llama Llama Misses Mama

September 12, 2016 Children's Corner, Features 0

Last week the literary world lost one of its greatest children’s authors: Anna Dewdney, author of the Llama Llama series. Anna Elizabeth Luhrmann was born on Christmas Day 1965 and grew up in Englewood, New Jersey. Her father was a psychiatrist and her mother was also an author, writing books for young adults. Before discovering her Llama, Anna illustrated several children’s books, her first being The Peppermint Race by Dian Curtis Regan. The idea for Llama Llama came to Dewdney while on a road trip with her two young daughters. As they passed animals on the road, she would ask her girls… Read more »

Children’s Corner: Kindergarten has Begun!

Oh wow!!! Did Summer fly by or what?! Little man started Kindergarten last week and so far he is loving it. It’s been a big adjustment for all of us, I think me more than him. Every day he comes home with new stories about what he’s learned. From the stories, I gather that Science and Math are his favorite classes, which is no surprise. They were always my favorite too. He’s been learning about bugs: specifically caterpillars and how they turn to butterflies and bees. He’s also obsessed with his new skill of counting to 100 and writing his… Read more »
