Novel Flicks | Throne of Glass Dream Cast

Posted October 22, 2018 by Lillian in Features / 0 Comments

Tomorrow is the day. You know what day it is ๐Ÿ˜‰ It’s the day I’ve only been waiting on for TWO YEARS!!!! Kingdom of Ash hits shelves tomorrow! Finally after two years, we will learn what’s become of Aelin and her friends. Y’all I even caved and read Tower of Dawn this past weekend in preparation for the release.

SO in honor of Kingdom of Ash‘s release, Amanda and I thought we’d share our dream cast for Throne of Glass. A few years ago Sarah J. Maas announced that Throne of Glass was optioned by Hulu as a TV show. Now there has been little to no news since, but seeing what they did with The Handmaiden’s Tale I’m all kinds of excited! Now on to our dream casting ๐Ÿ˜€

Celaena Sardothien

“Once upon a time,” she said to him, to the world, to herself, “in a kingdom long since burned to ash, there lived a young princess who loved her kingdom…..very much.”

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: Dove Cameron is my top pick for Celaena. Most notable for her role as Mal in Descendants, Cameron rocked it as a bad girl struggling with her newfound conscience. I honestly think she would be the perfect fit for our assassin queen.

Amanda: First of all – ARE YOU DYING. BECAUSE I’M DYING. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS BOOK. I’m sorry for yelling…I just get excited about a good story. My pic for Aelin/Calaena is the beauteous Bella Thorne, for no other reason than pure aesthetic. To me, she looks like she could pull off the strength and vulnerability of the Queen of Fire. Also – just saying – her and Rowan?? (Scroll down for my pic[k])

Dorian Havilliard

โ€œYou have power in you, Prince. More power than you realize.โ€ She touched his chest, tracing a symbol there, too, and some of the court ladies gasped. But Nehemiaโ€™s eyes were locked on his. โ€œIt sleeps,โ€ she whispered, tapping his heart. โ€œIn here. When the time comes, when it awakens, do not be afraid.โ€ She removed her hand and gave him a sad smile. โ€œWhen it is time, I will help you.โ€

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: Matt Bomer…..I know, I know he’s too old to play the 20 year old prince, BUT hear me out. He has the look. You can’t deny that, the raven black hair, blue eyes and clean cut look. I mean I can chose him if I want, that’s why it is a dream cast, right?! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Amanda: So, as long as we’re dreamin’ and he doesn’t have to be 20…โ€ฆ.is it wrong to say I picked him just so I can look at him? Henry Cavill has been exuding charm and quiet strength since The Count of Monte Cristo. He also has the right coloring. And he’s just beautiful – let’s just take a moment to appreciate my Prince….THE PRINCE, I mean…*ahem…* Moving along.

Chaol Westfall

โ€œI worry because I care. Gods help me, I know I shouldn’t, but I do. So I will always tell you to be careful, because I will always care what happens.โ€

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: So I just watched To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before on Netflix a few weeks ago (I know, I’m behind the times here) and I absolutely LOVED Noah Centineo. I think he’d be a perfect Chaol. Centineo can be both the captain and the man Celaena falls for easily.

Amanda: In my humble opinion, no one broods better than Kit Harrington, whom I LOVE in Game of Thrones (yes I watch it, please don’t execute me). Chaol is a complicated and flawed man who can brood with the best of them. Also, eye candy. HEY IF SARAH J. MAAS IS GOING TO WRITE DREAMY CHARACTERS then we have to have dreamy actors. It’s the rules.

Nehemia Ytger

โ€œOne of them has to break,โ€ the queen said to the princess. โ€œOnly then can it begin.โ€

โ€œI know,โ€ the princess said softly. โ€But the prince isn’t ready. It has to be her.โ€

โ€œThen you understand what I am asking of you?โ€

The princess looked up, toward the shaft of moonlight spilling into the tomb. When she looked back at the ancient queen, her eyes were bright. โ€œYes.โ€

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: Keke Palmer is all grown up and I can’t imagine a better person to play the strong Nehemia. While I’ll admit I haven’t seen her in anything since she was a kid, I feel that she could pull off the grace and poise necessary to portray this character.

Amanda: Poise, grace, sophistication, intelligence – Lupita Nyong’o in a nutshell. I feel like this choice doesn’t need an explanation. She’s just kinda perfect.

Rowan Whitethorn

“I love you. There is no limit to what I can give to you, no time I need. Even when this world is a forgotten whisper of dust between the stars, I will love you.”

Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: So he’d need contacts, and to dye that pretty hair of his, BUT Jason Momoa is my pick for Rowan. He’s proved that he can play the part of a warrior (His roles in Game of Thrones and Justice League prove that.). Plus he’s just so pretty to look at. ๐Ÿ˜

Amanda: Lil and I decided a WHILE ago, while mutually geeking out over this series, that there was only one REAL choice for Rowan. He is strong, tough, muscular, would make a sexy hawk, and has experience with royalty (GoT fandom showing, here). Yet again, sorry to smack ya in the feels with the dreaminess yet again – but these characters require that we go THERE. So…HERE. Jason Momoa TWICE. You’re welcome.

Sam Cortland

โ€œI love you,” he breathed against her mouth. “And from today onward, I want to never be separated from you. Where you go, I go. Even if that means going to Hell itself, wherever you are, that’s where I want to be. Forever.”

The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: Sam is young when he is introduced into the series and really he is but a memory for Celaena. SO I think Tom Holland would be perfect. He would bring the levity that Celaena remembers about Sam, but also be able to pull off assassin well IMHO.

Amanda: So since we don’t know a great deal about poor Sam (and I LOVE Tom Holland for this role, too), we can just use our imaginations. I like the look of Freddie Stroma, though I have to admit I’m not sure what I’ve seen him in. He’s just cute. I’m sorry you’re going to die so horribly, Freddie. Don’t blame us, though….

Arobynn Hamel

โ€œFarran studied his new ally, his gaze glittering. “You have no idea.” After another moment, he asked, “Why did you do it?”

Arobynn’s attention drifted back to the wagon, already a small dot in the rolling foothills above Rifthold. “Because I don’t like sharing my belongings.โ€

The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: There was only one name that came to my mind when I thought about Arobynn: Norman Reedus. I think he could easily play the assassin king and Celaena’s tormentor while also still being a smooth ladies man.

Amanda: I don’t have anything else to add. There is literally no one else Arobynn Hamel could be. Nailed it.

Lysandra

โ€œShe was fury, she was wrath, she was vengeance.โ€

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: To play Lysandra, you need an actress who is both cunning and seductive. Personally my pick would be Katherine Langford from 13 Reasons Why. First off she’s beautiful and secondly she can play seductive and be vulnerable all at the same time. Arobynn needs to watch it!

Amanda: Cunning and seductive? CHECK. I love Ivana Baquero in The Shannara Chronicles. She’s smart, seductive, and independent – all things you’d need to out-smart Arobynn Hamel.

Aedion Ashryver

โ€œYou survived; I survived. Weโ€™re together again. I once begged the gods to let me see you โ€” if only for a moment. To see you and know youโ€™d made it. Just once; that was all I ever hoped for.โ€

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: The first name that came to my mind for Aedion is Milo Gibson. He was great in Hacksaw Ridge, and it really doesn’t hurt that he looks a LOT like his daddy. He could easily pull off the the Great Wolf of the North, don’t you think?

Amanda: I’m freaking out. I totally forgot to choose my Aedion and had no idea who I was going to pick until I remembered Lasse Matberg. He’s a model and a Norwegian Navy Lieutenant. My cast is shaping up to be other-worldly in the beauty department. BUT THAT’S KINDA THE POINT SO LET’S ROLL WITH IT. *internet collectively sighs in appreciation of all the other-worldly beauty*

Manon Blackbeak

“A cry went up from the witches, save for the Thirteenโ€”ยญwho stayed cool and quiet. They did not need to cheer, for they were immortal and infinite and gloriously, wonderfully deadly.”

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: Chloe Bennet is my Manon. I love her in Agents of Shield. Not only do I think she could pull off the ruthless witch. I think she’d be a great one to show Manon’s character growth throughout the series. Plus she kicks butt ๐Ÿ˜‰

Amanda: I love Manon’s evolution, and her arc is probably one of my favorites of the series. She was born to darkness, but discovers the light. For me, no one does “dark” better than Eva Green, known for her roles in The Kingdom of Heaven and Penny Dreadful.

Elide Lochan

โ€œBecause I am from Terrasen and believed my queen dead. And now she is alive, and fighting, so I will fight with her. So that no other girls will be taken from their homes and brought to Morath and forgotten.โ€

Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: So I mentioned already that I just watched To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Well y’all I fell in love with Lana Condor. She’s beautiful, funny, and has a naivetรฉ that I believe would work to her benefit as Elide.

Amanda: Elide is a sweet, determined, broken, formidable FORCE in this universe, and I love Poppy Drayton for her role. Poppy is known for her role in The Shannara Chronicles and her short appearance in the final season of Downton Abbey.

Yrene Towers

“The world was wide-openโ€”wide-open and hers for the taking, if she dared.”

The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: The first time I saw Jessica Parker Kennedy on The Flash, I immediately thought she’d make a perfect Yrene. She’s got the spunk and the energy. Yrene’s scene with Celaena in The Assassin’s Blade is one of my favorites. I think Kennedy would rock it!

Amanda: I also love JPK for Yrene Towers. I first saw her in Black Sails, in which she is BRILLIANT. I find she brings a little darkness and gravitas to her roles – where she’s also sexy and alluring.

Elena Galathynius Havilliard

“You could rattle the stars. You could do anything if you only dared. And deep down, you know it too, and that’s what scares you the most.”

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: When I think of Queen Elena, I instantly think of Cate Blanchett. Possibly that’s do to her role as Galadriel in LotR, even so she’s a brilliant actress who can play anything. I think she’d bring grace to the role along with an air of mystery, exactly what this queen needs.

Amanda: I adore Lena Heady. She’s brilliant and brings a lot of depth to her characters. She’s known for her amazing portrayal of the nefarious Circe on Game of Thrones. And being a fan of the Shadowhunters universe, I can’t go without mentioning her role as Jocelyn Fray in City of Bones (we won’t talk about how I feel about that movie or the TV series…let’s stick to the books, people….), but I still appreciate what she brought to the role.

Maeve

“For a thousand years, they ruled, equal in power, their sons and daughters spread throughout the land to ensure their continued dominion. Until a queen appearedโ€”her power a new, dark song in the world. Such wondrous things she could do with her power, such horrible, wondrous things…”

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

Lillian: Maeve is one of those characters that haunts you. She’s immortal, powerful, and beautiful. There’s only one person that comes to my mind that can play the immortal queen and that’s Jaime Murray. The first thing I ever saw her in was Syfy’s Defiance

Amanda: Maeve is beautiful, terrifying, ancient, and powerful. I think there is no one to better fill her shoes than Helen Mirren. Helen has portrayed a queen or two in her time, but I think my favorite of her roles was in The Hundred Foot Journey (please watch that movie NOW if you haven’t seen it, then come to my house so I can make you some Indian food).

King of Adarlan

Lillian: Anthony Head y’all! There is no one that can play scary king better IMHO. Loved him in Buffy and Merlin.

Amanda: ALL HAIL THE KING. SORRY WE ARE GOING TO KILL YOU SEAN BEAN.
