Only 31 days until we move!!! You guys are probably getting tired of my countdown by now (I know I am!), but we are just so excited to be heading back home. We will be within 15 minutes of most of our family. How awesome is that?! Especially after 10 years of being more 2-3 hours away. I’m really excited, my little man is getting excited and I know my husband is ready.

May was a good, but very busy, month. Little man graduated from pre-K with a few tears shed on my part. He’s done SO well this year and grew so much. I can’t wait to see what the next year (and Kindergarten) holds for him. For those that have asked, my grandmother’s surgery went really well! The doctor believes she was able to remove the whole tumor and my grandmother shouldn’t need radiation or chemo. We’re just waiting on pathology to confirm that. Thank you guys for all your well wishes and prayers!

Reading wise I managed to read 16 books this month and wrote 16 reviews. Pretty proud of that number 😀 Obviously I didn’t meet my goals for the ARC Clean Sweep reading challenge, but I still managed to read a good number of books and I did meet my challenge on the mini-blog ahead challenge so it’s a win for me. Another win this month was that I started writing again. Followers of the blog you know that in March my computer bit the dust taking with it 10 years worth of memories, including several WIPs AND 2 completed novels (though they were in a rough draft). I’m still heart-broken and tried to recreate them, but it’s not happening. SO I’ve started a new one, a book that has lived in my head for a while now and at the urging of some friends I took a big step out of my comfort zone and posted a teaser on the Facebook page. Here it is:

Favorite May Read

Hands down The Queen of All that Lives by Laura Thalassa was my favorite read this month. It is a fantastic conclusion to The Fallen World series and makes you feel all the feels. It’s a MUST read in my eyes.

Favorite May Quote

You have to start over. That’s what they say. But life is not a board game, and losing a loved one is never really “starting over.” More like “continuing without.”

~from The First Phone Call from Heaven by Mitch Albom

What are you looking forward to in June?

Well obviously we are moving at the end of June!!! I’m so excited 😀 For the first time ever we will be able to hire movers. I’m not sure who is more excited about this us or our family who have helped us move the previous four times. Besides the packing (and unpacking) I really am looking forward to being home. Nowhere has ever felt more comfortable!

I will be scarce towards the end of next month, but have no fear! I have some excellent guest posts from some fellow book bloggers that I’m sure you will enjoy. I have a few more days I’m trying to fill, so if you are interested in helping me out with a post, shoot me an email at momwithareadingproblem(at)gmail(dot)com 😀

  1. It is good that you are moving to a place you are excited about, close to family; otherwise, moving can suck. Even if you want to move, though, it is such a BIG JOB.

In my last move, after living in the foothills for thirteen years, I hired movers, and they even packed some of my stuff (dishes, books, etc.). But there was still a lot to do, like donating huge amounts of stuff, etc.

I have downsized, hence the donating, etc. I found myself still collecting things after the move, so I’ve been doing a lot of purging this year and last.

Anyway…sorry, you got me going there with your moving story. LOL.

Sorry about the computer. I do have my manuscripts and WIPs backed up, but I always dread the computer dying and the loss of work.

Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog.

    • Moving really does suck! However it gives me a great reason to purge 😀 I’m such a pack rat and we are downsizing to smaller place SO I’ve done a lot of donating the last few weeks (5 bags of clothes and 3+ bags of toys). There will be more I’m sure.

  2. A move is exciting especially when it gets you closer to family. Glad to hear that your grandmother is doing well also. And good luck with the writing!

I thought both Ruined and Admiral sounded good so I’ll go check your reviews of those. 🙂

    • Thanks Greg! I really enjoyed Ruined though a lot of bloggers felt it was a repeat of Red Queen or Throne of Glass. Admiral was good and infuriating all at the same time 😉 Hopefully you’ll enjoy them!

  3. Good luck with moving and I hope your grandmother recovers quickly!
I’d be heartbroken over losing so much writing, too! I lost a few stories years back when my first desktop crashed. Since then I’ve used writing sites that save to the cloud. I don’t know if that is the smartest thing to do but I’m a hobby writer so it works for me.
Congrats on reading AND reviewing 16 books this month! That is quite a feat!

    • I’ve started saving mine to Google Drive and Dropbox just to be safe! I’m still heartbroken but like you it was just a hobby. But still those books….:(
Thanks Stacy! She’s doing really well ❤️

  4. Sounds like you’ve had a great week/month! The move sounds exciting, and congrats on the graduation 🙂 And I’m glad your grandmother is doing well. Also, 16 reviews in one month, awesome! Not to mention your writing sounds great 🙂

I still need to start that Laura Thalassa series! I have the first book and seeing how much you like the series is making me antsy lol.

    • Thanks Kristen! We are getting really excited 🙂 Laura Thalassa is one of my favorite authors. I haven’t read anything of hers I haven’t liked 😀

  5. It’s great that you are moving closer to your family. We are currently 3 hours away from my parents, but close to my husband’s family. Good luck with arranging the last things for moving this coming month. Movers sound great to have, haha.

I’m glad to hear that the prognosis for your grandmother seems to be a good one. 🙂

  6. I am so excited for your to move but even more excited for you to use MOVERS!!! I will never, EVER, go back to moving myself!!! We’ve had them pack us and we’ve packed ourselves and I prefer the mix of both, myself.

And I think you had a fabulous May! You killed it on the books and reviews, IMHO!! Nice books for June, too 😉

  7. That’s exciting your move is so close by now! Congrats on your son finishing Pre-K sounds like he did great this year! And that’s good to hear your grandmothers surgery went well. And 16 books in a month is a great amount. I didn’t knew you lost your pc and everything on it, I can’t imagine how heartbroken you must’ve been, but that’s great news you started writing again. I hope your writing goes well and that’s exciting you even shared a teaser!
I also grabbed Rough Around the Edges Meet Refined this week as it was free. I hope June will be a great month for you.

  8. I’m excited that you’re so excited! 😀 If we ever decide to move I will probably break down and cry. Because we have so much stuff! Books mostly. Everything else can pretty much be donated as far as I’m concerned. lol

My poor trusty 10-yr-old computer died on me last year and I have yet to attempt to retrieve what I lost on it. I don’t care about anything except the pictures. 🙁 I had stuff backed up on flash drives, but the one with my pictures shows empty. WAH! And wtf?! And WAH!

    • May our computers rest in peace 🙁 All of our stuff (pics, my WIPs, financial info, etc) was backed up to an external hard drive. When my computer died, it decided to back itself up onto my external essentially erasing everything that was on there and replacing it was the little that we had saved on the computer. I was heartbroken. Like you 10+ years of pics…
