The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things you have received. Share news about what is coming up on your blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

Happy Sunday everyone! This was a great week, despite little man having a cold. We went on his first field trip on Monday to the pumpkin patch. He got to pick a pumpkin, a gourd, and popcorn. Yes, my friends you read that right, you really can pick popcorn! I didn’t know that you could. You can then take the picked popcorn off the cob, into a brown paper bag with a little butter and salt and pop it in the microwave. It’s quite tasty 😀

The weather here was gorgeous, but cold! We had our first freeze this week and I brought out the space heaters for our bedrooms. The leaves are in full color now: burgundies, oranges, yellows, and still a few hanging on to their green. We spent a lot of time outside, enjoying the nice weather. Little man has colored all over the sidewalk at our apartment and he is so pleased that there’s been no rain and his art is still there. We made pumpkin cookies too and he decorated them all by himself. He was quite proud of his “scary” pumpkins.

Reading wise I spent so much time outdoors and doing other things that I only managed to read two books this week. I’m hoping to pick up the pace next week otherwise I’ll have nothing to post! What did you do this week?

Currently Reading

I started After Alice by Gregory Maguire (yes the same author of Wicked) yesterday and it is SO good!!! I love Alice in Wonderland anyways and I try to read all the retellings and this one is definitely worth the read 😀

What are you reading this week?

We are gearing up to go Trick or Treating this weekend or as little man likes to say “Trick or Treasure” (thank you Jake & the Neverland Pirates). He’s going to be a ninja and he is SO excited. I’ve caught him twice now preening in front of my mirror in his costume. I’ll admit it is cute 😉

The Blog Ahead challenge ends on Saturday and I’m hoping to finish all I have planned. So far I’ve gotten all my Waiting on Wednesday posts done through January. That’s 13 posts done! This week I’m going to work on my Top Ten Tuesdays and Merry Mondays posts. I’ve drafted several posts as well so even though they don’t count towards the challenge, I’m feeling quite accomplished and MUCH more organized than I was when I started.

This weekend we are heading home for a visit. My husband’s residency is winding down and he is now starting the interview process all over again. We originally thought we’d stay where we are, but it’s looking more and more like home will be our hometown which is both sad and exciting. Sad because we’ve made some really great friends in Johnson City and exciting because home means family 😀 I guess we’ll see what God has in store for us.

What are your plans for this week? Reading anything good? Comment below!

  1. Oh I want to go Popcorn Picking! That sounds like so much fun!!!
My kids are also so excited about Halloween, their costumes are getting quite the working out this year since they have to dress 3 times, once yesterday, once for school on friday and once on Halloween (of course) for the money we spend this year is totally worth it 🙂

You are doing so good with Blog ahead, I really thought I would have a good set of posts done but I only have three, I am hoping in the next few days to do a bunch of them so I am at least a little ahead. October killed me with all the posts I had planned but I am not complaining I loved doing them.

I can see why moving away from friends is sad but it is exciting to be closer to family. I hope it all goes smoothly for you!

Have a great week, Lillian! Happy Reading! ox

    • I didn’t know there was such a thing as popcorn picking but little man had a blast. He thought it was so cool when he got to pop it when we got home.
That’s awesome that your costumes are getting more use this year! Little man will only get one day out of his, but he’s been wearing it around the house since we got it too.
I’m happy with my Blog Ahead, even if I don’t get anymore scheduled. It forced me to make some drafts and plan out what I wanted to post for the next three months so it’s a win in my book 😀
Hope you have a great week Michelle!

    • It was so much fun! If you ever make it state side in the fall you should check out one of the farms. They have pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and some of the farms bring the animals out too.
I’m happy with my Blog Ahead goals, even if I don’t get anymore scheduled I’ve got plenty drafted. I’m not a good scheduler either! I just picked up Parajunkee’s Book Blogger Organizer and it’s helped a ton.
      Happy reading 😀

    • It was my first time picking popcorn. I didn’t know there was such a thing! Little man thought it was so cool getting to pop it when we got home. 😀

  2. That pumpkin patch trip sounds fun. We don’t have things like that around here. The leaves are also in full colour here, it’s so pretty, although the weather actually got abit warmer again. I also made pumpkin cookies this week, although I didn’t decorate them.

I hope you can get a few more posts written for Blog Ahead! I havea few more posts I hope to write this week, but am very happy with my progress so far. It’s great to feel ahead and organized! I read Eslker a while back and really enjoyed it. I hope you’ll enjoy it as well. Have a great week!

    • It was so much fun Lola! Little man had a blast. If you’re ever up this way, I highly suggest checking them out. They have corn mazes and some of the farms have the animals out as well.
Our weather was warmer this week than last too which made for pleasant days.
I cheated with our pumpkin cookies, I bought them already made so we just had to decorate 😉 Yours were much better I’m sure (your recipes are delicious!!!).
I’m happy with Blog Ahead too, even if I don’t get anymore scheduled. I’ve got plenty drafted and ready to go.
      Happy reading 😀

  3. I had no idea you could pick popcorn kernels. In fact I’ve never really thought about how they come about?!

Well done on Blog Ahead – it sounds like it’s been a really successful challenge for you.

And finally… I hope your little boy is over his cold. My cold / flu has stretched out over our winter / spring here in Australia and I am seriously OVER IT!

    🙂

    • I didn’t either! It was neat. My son said “it was awe-some!” 😆
I’m happy with what I’ve accomplished on Blog Ahead, even if I don’t get anymore posts scheduled.
I hope you feel better soon too! Little man’s cold started in April and he just can’t seem to shake it. I’m hoping now that we’ve had our first freeze he will start feeling better.
      Happy reading 😀

    • I do! I post reviews for everything I read. Maybe I should go back and post reviews of books I read prior to blogging? Thanks for stopping by 😀

    • It started out so GOOD Lisa, but about 40% in it plateaued. I only made it to 80%. I tried to finish it, but it was putting me to sleep. I hope you enjoy it!
